Do someone have a idea why azahar on rocknix activates the second (bottom) screen on my RG DS and just closes? It doesn't matter if i launch it directly or via a game.

#Rocknix on #Anbernic #RG34XXSP update: until last night, I was having an issue where the secondary microSD card wasn't auto-mounting sometimes, but a reboot would fix it. Last night a reboot stopped fixing it.

SSHing in, dmesg didn't yield any clues. I was able to fsck and repair a boot sector inconsistency and mount it manually but couldn't manage to fix auto-mount.

Notably, the card was formatted FAT32, and being written to with save states and other metadata. According to the docs there's slightly more sophisticated support for ext4, so I copied the contents off, reformatted as ext4 and copied back, still no auto-mount! In a last ditch effort I ran Rocknix's factory reset, and after a couple of reboots that worked 🫠

... and now device sleep works, sort of. Apparently you can suspend for a configurable maximum of 30 minutes (independently configurable for in/out of game). I think there was a timeout on the stock firmware as well. Sounds like maybe other custom firmwares allow indefinite sleep.

However, the auto-shutdown sequence apparently left wireplumber in a bad state once and sound didn't work on next few boots 🫠 https://rocknix.org/faqs/#sound-suddenly-stopped-working-on-my-device

Luckily just deleting the wireplumber state directory from the file manager + rebooting fixed it without any SSH hijinks.

Too bad it doesn't support #Rocknix's on-screen keyboard. Guess I'll need to pair a Bluetooth keyboard.

Also, it doesn't seem to want to charge very fast (if at all) when it's not in Android. After my last one nearly caught fire I'm kind of okay with that I suppose.

Initial experience with #PSP games on the #RetroidPocket5 is mostly good! BurnOut runs with some stuttering. I can probably tweak some settings to get it to a steady FPS. #PPSSPP crashed and caused #Rocknix to reboot once, and I can't find a way to run it as a #libretro core so that Auto-Saves work consistently. I'm hopeful that those details can get worked out.

Also, the Dreamcast .chd files I built from redumped bin+cues aren't compatible with #FlyCast so I've got to convert all of those to .gdi then re-chd them. I hope Launch ox doesn't lose all my favorites when I switch the files 😖

My replacement #RetroidPocket5 comes today!

I need to install #Linux on it (probably #Rocknix) and see how the #N64 and #segaSaturn compatibility is. My #Rockchip powered #Anbernic #RGArc doesn't have great #emulation support for a lot of #games, and the reason I bought the #Retroid was in hopes that the #Snapdragon GPU would have better compatibility

If it performs the same then I may just resell it because the problems I had with my last unit have not inspired me with confidence

Since modern #RetroGamingHandhelds are essentially small #Linux machines, I can set #Mednafen to take screenshots and put them in a folder that gets synced to a big PC. Neat!

Specifically, with #ROCKNIX on #RGCubeXX, I changed mednafen.cfg:

button_10 + button_1 = M + A, same as with Duckstation.

#ROCKNIX seems better than the other CFWs I’ve tried. It doesn’t force you to use a certain shitty emulation frontend, and has more standalone emulators (no DOSBox, tho). It also has some neat online functionality, like rclone, syncthing, and OTA updates.

However, HDMI and Bluetooth don’t work.

I missed you, Linux. Sigh.

@migtorr the RP5 doesn't have a very good GPU compared to other CMs based on Rockchip SoCs. There's a Switch-style handheld chassis for Radxa CM5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf8C4oy6nv0 and #Rocknix makes a great OS for it!

I have managed to track down the various things that were preventing WPA3/SAE only Wifi networks working in Rocknix. Builds for the #retroid #rp5 and #rp5mini here. Still needs some cleanup and testing against our other targets to be sure I didn't introduce regressions. But this should be helpful if you, like me. But the #Powkiddy #RGB10X is an interesting option as well; similar performance as the #RG35XXPlus so it's one analog stick could do some #PS1 #gaming! It's got official support from #Batocera and #ArkOS, but I bet it gets #Rocknix support soon.
