Collision detection of objects is a must, but having the rendering layer change based on player position is very nice to have: to gives the illusion of depth here.
Note that I used the pre-isometric coordinates to calculate z-axis, so in the end-result x and y count.

Just recreated what I think was the best and most underrated feature of #MegaMan Battle Network (#RockmanEXE): sliding along edges.
Harder to make than it looks, but feels so gosh dang satisfying.
