I suppose you could make an argument that it originated in 2016 (first time recorded, live by Tommy Shaw at a solo show), but the lyric itself was indeed born in 1975 (and the song released [via album] in 1976) ... any inaccuracies here can be chalked up to the mystery behind the lost verse and predictable interweb balderdash ...
