  1. If you like #RockClimbing in Europe and have ever been to, or plan on going to #SanVitoLoCapo in #Sicily, please consider donating for the renewal of the bolts in the over 1.000 routes there. This is such a large task and needs the help of all #climbers enjoying this wonderful #climbing area.

  2. Mentmore cliffs are west of Gallup, with a large variety of sport & trad climbs, with routes 40-50 feet tall. Numerous moderate routes, with easily accessible top-rope anchors. Two main areas, the "Original Side" and the "New Side." There are longer climbs on the "New Side." 🧗‍♂️

  3. Mentmore includes 2 separate areas, the new area & the original area. There are over 100 routes, usually 40' - 50' tall. Most of the routes are sport, with a few traditional in the mix.

The Third Mesa Trail is a 7.3-mile loop of the larger 26-mile High Desert Trail system.

  4. Climbing at Crag Lough, Northumberland - right under the Roman Wall. A god old-fashioned dolerite crag on the Great Whin Sill, one of the main geological features in Northumberland. #Northumberland #RomanWall #Climbing #RockClimbing #TradClimbing

  5. What are the chances that anyone on here is in eastern #Idaho and also interested in #canyoning AKA #canyoneering? We have several #rockclimbing gyms around here, so there must be some interest.

and Search and Rescue (SAR) folks tend to agree:

I have a PLB, as I'm in remote areas quite a bit. I'm also a search and rescue manager and search theorist in my state, and a PLB is an amazing little piece of technology. I would really only ever use a 406 MHz, a "proper" PLB. If they don't operate on 406 then they don't use the COSPAS/SARSAT system. A 406 beacon will get you found, usually, within 2 hours in the US and they work everywhere, even the poles. You need to be careful because the popular 2 way communicators like the "Spot" don't use 406 but their own frequency and operate their own dispatch center. I have heard of rare problems with the private companies response. Most 406 PLB's have a higher cost, but no subscription fees, but the battery needs to be factory replaced

A #escalada sempre foi e sempre será um esporte coletivo. Mesmo no #boulder você precisa de companhia.

Pelo menos na minha comunidade da escalada (em Montes Claros/MG), todos nos sentimos responsáveis pela segurança uns dos outros
