King #Nebuchadnezzar was punished (in the book of Daniel) for pride, by being made to think he was an ox, and grazing on grass for four years instead of being kingly.

The historical record suggests he became depressed and temporarily insane after gazing into a palantír, but maybe i am thinking of someone else 🙂

The artist, #Rochegrosse, later moved to Algiers, became known for #orientalist art.
