This GenX'r was brainwashed to view Arabica coffee as good and Robusta bad.
I've since fallen in love with Vietnamese iced coffee, which is made with (or primarily with) Robusta beans.
Turns out that Robusta makes a stronger, more chocolatey coffee and the beans are cheaper, higher yielding, and require fewer pesticides and water.
I now find myself looking down my nose at Arabica.
Robusta for the win! Yay underdog!

93°C waterbrew smells spicy and a bit floral.
taste is mildly bitter upfront. tastes a bit like cardamom, nutmeg. bitterness lingers unpleasantly but reduces with sips. theres a sickly burnt sweetness in background.
like last years bewild robusta, this is not my cup of tea

Hey coffee nerds, did you ever try to brew pure #robusta as pour over and drink it black?
I picked up a high quality one from Uganda at my local roaster. It has interesting notes but I am not sure if I can get used to the astringency in the after taste. With global warming it would great to have an viable alliterative to #arabica..

I know #chatops is a bit dated by todays standards of freshness but I really am sick of reading a Jenkins message or alertmanager message and then having to login to an interface and do a bunch of routine stuff. I think #robusta is probably the most recent thing I’ve looked at (a few years ago). Anyone have suggestions #devops #slack #jenkins

They are also experimenting with certified organic farming, and this road was on the border between conventional left and organic right. You can even see how much greener, with grass and herbs, the right side is. The grass also reduces the need for irrigation, which I learnt Robusta also often has - it needs much less water than Arabica, but it has a shallower root system. Even some wild peanuts grow, and there´s more and higher shadow-and-windbreak-trees!

#Arabica coffee, a type of #coffeebean largely grown in Central and South America, sold for $3.44 a pound earlier this week, beating the prior record high of $3.35 set in 1977. #Brazil the leading producer of arabica experienced extreme #drought has led to smaller harvests.

Forscher der University of Florida untersuchen deshalb Robusta-#Kaffee als Alternative. #Robusta ist widerstandsfähiger, benötigt weniger Ressourcen und kann auch in höheren Lagen wachsen. Erste Studien zeigen, dass Robusta ertragreich und geschmacklich überzeugend ist.
