  10. Territory review: modern day Western from Australia

Territory is a sprawling modern day Western soap opera of an adventure set in far northern Australia on the Marianne Station, "the largest cattle station in the world." The cowboys in this remote dryland are as likely to ride a four wheeler or a helicopter as a horse.

  20. The Hangman (1959) is a slightly odd but very good psychological western with Robert Taylor as a Deputy Marshal who has to bring in a wanted man but he has no idea what the fugitive looks like. Tina Louise could identify the man, but will she?

  25. Rogue Cop (1954) deals with a subject, police corruption, that was very touchy in the 50s.

Robert Taylor stars and there’s a terrific supporting cast - George Raft, Janet Leigh and Anne Francis.

Robert Taylor shed his matinee idol image in the 50s and gave some great cynical world-weary noir performances.

A tough unsentimental hard-hitting film noir.
