Robert A. Heinlein. The 'Dean of Science Fiction' and Golden Age titan. A four-time Hugo winner, he redefined the genre with 'Stranger in a Strange Land' and 'Starship Troopers', merging hard science with provocative social and political themes.

  2. A quotation from Robert Heinlein

Could it be otherwise here? Could any one sect obtain a working majority at the polls and take over the country? Perhaps not — but a combination of a dynamic evangelist, television, enough money, and modern techniques of advertising and propaganda might make Billy Sunday’s efforts look like a corner store compared to Sears Roebuck. Throw in a depression for good measure, promise a material heaven here on earth, add a dash of anti-Semitism, anti-Catholicism, anti-Negroism, and a good large dose of anti-“furriners” in general and anti-intellectuals here at home and the result might be something quite frightening — particularly when one recalls that our voting system is such that a minority distributed as pluralities in enough states can constitute a working majority in Washington.

  3. A quotation from Robert Heinlein

The capacity of the human mind for swallowing nonsense and spewing it forth in violent and repressive action has never yet been plumbed.

  4. Robert Heinlein helped Philip K. Dick financially during tough times and offered to upgrade him to the electric age.

Heinlein used a crazy big Underwood with a custom soundproof housing. Later he used an IBM Selectric, and eventually, with help from his wife, Virginia, and fellow writer Jerry Pournelle, he made the switch to word processing. #RobertHeinlein #Typewriters #Writing 11/14

Old age is not an accomplishment; it is just something that happens to you despite yourself, like falling downstairs.

  9. A quotation from Robert Heinlein

A dying culture invariably exhibits personal rudeness. Bad manners. Lack of consideration for others in minor matters. A loss of politeness, of gentle manners, is more significant than is a riot. […] This symptom is especially serious in that an individual displaying it never thinks of it as a sign of ill health but as proof of his/her strength.

  11. A quotation from Robert Heinlein

The worst thing about sex is that we use it to hurt each other. It ought never to hurt; it should bring happiness, or at least, pleasure.

  13. A quotation from Robert Heinlein

Politics is just a name for the way we get things done … without fighting. We dicker and compromise and everybody thinks he has received a raw deal, but somehow after a tedious amount of talk we come up with some jury-rigged way to do it without getting anybody’s head bashed in. That’s politics.

  14. JOB: A COMEDY OF JUSTICE (1984)
    Acrylic - 30" x 20"

This was a difficult book to illustrate. When confronted with a plethora of ideas, themes, and opinions, the best I could do is mirror that complexity rather than to choose only one idea and compose a misleading cover. 1/5

  15. Robert A. Heinlein's #SciFi novella, 𝘐𝘧 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘎𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘖𝘯…, written in 1940 (also collected in 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘵 𝘪𝘯 2100), is about an American theocratic society ruled by christian fundamentalist prophets, the first of whom becomes a dictator in 2016 (!!).

The good thing with dystopian fiction is that, in the end, you usually escape into a much better reality. The bad thing with dystopian reality is that it takes a huge effort to make it a refuge of better reality.

  16. THE CAT WHO WALKS THROUGH WALLS (1985)
    Acrylic on Watercolor Board - 31" X 14"

Sometime after the book was published, I hung the painting at a convention and a fan came up to me and said, "The girl is great and I love the cat, but you know the guy is supposed to be black?" 1/4
