The American Public Health Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and several other major medical organizations are suing U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy over vaccines. Also listed as a plaintiff is an anonymous pregnant woman who lives in Massachusetts, where the suit was filed, and who says she was unable to get a COVID-19 vaccination after Kennedy changed the recommendations. Dr. Jason Goldman, president of the American College of Physicians, which is also involved with the suit, said during a briefing on the matter that adults who come to his practice are “hesitant” about vaccines. “They are not trusting the system anymore, and this is a direct impact on the health of our patients, because if they don’t get vaccinated, they can get sicker, they can end up hospitalized or even die."

Impfgegner Kennedy schwurbelt

Während Donald Trump sich vom NATO-Gipfel huldigen ließ, arbeitete einer seiner “Abbruchminister” weiter an der Zerrüttung von Sozialleistungen und der internationalen Schädigung des Ansehens der USA. Impfgegner und Gesundheitsminister Robert. F. Kennedy hat entschieden, die internationale Arbeit von GAVI nicht mehr zu finanzieren, die weltweit Kinder u.a. gegen Masern und Polio (Kinderlähmung) impft und seit der Gründung 2000 schätzungsweise eine Milliarde Kinder, vorzugsweise in Entwicklungsländern, geimpft hat.

Die Biden-Regierung hatte der Organisation im vergangenen Jahr 1,58 Mrd. Dollar für die kommenden fünf Jahre zugesichert.

Gesundheitspolitik als Verschwörungstheoretiker

Kennedys Begründung ist rein ideologisch. Er behauptete in einer Video-Botschaft, Gavi müsse “das öffentliche Vertrauen zurückgewinnen” und “die acht milliarden Dollar rechtfertigen”, die die USA seit 2001 bereitgestellt hat. Dazu müsse sie “die beste verfügbare Forschung” beachten, “auch wenn sie etablierten Paradigmen widerspreche”. Er meint mit “Öffentlichkeit” wohl die auch in USA in der MAGA-Bewegung tätigen Impfgegner:innen und mit “bester Forschung” seine Anhängerschaft. Der Kinderarzt und Professor für Epidemiologie an der Johns Hopkins University, Dr. William Moss, kritisierte “seine seit langem vertretenen Ansichten, die auf Verschwörungstheorien sowie Fehl- und Desinformationen rund um Impfstoffe basieren“.

Trumps Komplizen treiben Umbau voran

GAVI wird diesen Ausfall von Mitteln wohl überstehen, denn sie erhält von der WHO, aber auch von vielen Einzelstaaten und Privatspendern, u.a. der Bill Gates-Stiftung,  die bekanntermaßen in der Corona-Pandemie Ziel von Verschwörungstheoretikern war, den größten Teil ihrer Mittel. Trotzdem ist dies ein deutliches Zeichen, wie Trump im Windschatten seiner spektakulären außenpolitischen Auftritte den Abbau von Sozialstaat und den Umbau der Zivilgesellschaft vorantreibt und dabei auch vor dem Abbau internationaler Hilfe für die Schwächsten keinen Halt macht.
