Abbaye de Dundrennan, en Écosse.
Astuce famille : il existe un pass Family qui dure 14 jours où on a accès à pas mal de monuments. Il vaut 100 £ et donc très vite rentabilisé quand on est deux adultes et deux enfants (ça va même jusqu'à 3 enfants).
Pour le coup, ça va nous permettre d'aller voir des monuments sur la route qu'on aurait probablement zappé.

I've decided to cut my #RoadTrip short and will head home on a scenic route tomorrow instead of spending the night in Walla Walla as originally planned. I just can't see throwing away another $200 for a bed for the night.
Tonight's room is cheaper but it's in a lodge and I think the word "rustic" is too generous for what my $140 bought me. My room is so small I don't even have a night table next to the bed and the air conditioner rattles.

It's my raven friend at Hovenweep Nat. Mon., but I haven't seen it for the last several years, sadly. It used to sit on the structure seen in the photo that stands at the head of a narrow canyon surrounded by similar structures. The raven would sit there making gurgling croaking noises, beak snaps, & caws that would echo on the wind up & down the canyon as if it were asking: "Where did all of the ancient ones go? Where are they?"

If your idea of a #RoadTrip is motoring from one tourist attraction to the next via the fastest route, you're doing it wrong. The joy is in the drive, often along "blue highways" that wind through scenic terrain, stopping at small towns that boast populations in the hundreds, leaving cash in small businesses where you might buy some postcards or huckleberry jam or a breakfast burrito. Decided to make an unplanned stop at the local urgent care. About two weeks ago, I may have gotten some sort of shellfish splinter in a finger and I think it's infected. I think it's best to get it looked at before I continue on into the middle of nowhere. 🙄

This is part of my road trip routine when I'm not driving my camper: using the maps app to find a place for breakfast that might actually have a decent cup of coffee. There are a lot of options here in town but I think I'd rather continue on. I found a café about 10 miles further along the road. The plan is to get coffee here in town and breakfast food there. It opens in an hour so I have plenty of time to prep for departure. #RoadTrip #Idaho

Up at 6 AM, drinking a nearly frozen can of triple latte I bought at Trader Joe's Monday, trying to learn how the "assistive driving features" work on the RAV4. I didn't expect the owner's manual to be nearly 800 pages long. But as I discussed with the finance guy at Toyota the other day, I didn't buy a car as much as a computer on wheels. I need to figure out what these features actually do for me and which ones I should disable. #MariaGotANewCar #RoadTrip

McCall ID is crazy busy ON A TUESDAY with far more children around than is good for my sanity. I'm staying walking distance from downtown, but purposely explored it before coming to the hotel so I won't need to go back. I might actually go to a brew pub for dinner because there's a lesser chance of seeing kids in there. #RoadTrip #Idaho

I think the RAV4 Woodland Edition has some sort of self-driving capabilities. It's like cruise control on steroids. I caught it steering for me. It apparently likes to be a tad closer to the opposing lane than I do. I'm going to read up on cruise control tonight.
In the meantime, I've arrived in McCall and got a trendy little room in an old two-story motel that has clearly been renovated recently. #MariaGotANewCar #RoadTrip #Idaho

For our last full day in England we visited the historic centre of Rye (📷1); made a brief stop at Camber Sands—after finding 🅿️ that wasn’t height-restricted nor £6/ h (📷2); toured the hides at RSPB Dungeness Nature Reserve—but didn’t see much, other than the adjacent nuclear power station (📷3); and ended the day with a stroll along the famous chalk White Cliffs of Dover from South Foreland Lighthouse (📷4).
