An interesting counter-example that puts into perspective the '#ribosome heterogeneity' hypothesis. This hypothesis is that duplicated genes for ribosomal proteins could serve for the formation of functionally specialized ribosomes. At least in D. melanogaster and for a specific example, different levels of expression of ribosomal protein genes led to different global levels of formed ribosomes. So, specialized ribosomes or different levels of them ?
