LincStation E1 is a cheap NAS that supports up 2 HDDs + 2 SSDs (crowdfunding for $129 and up)
The LincStation E1 from LincPlus is a compact network-attached storage device that measures just 219 x 88 x 140mm (8.6″ x 3.5″ x 5.5″). But it’s a versatile little system with support for up to 76TB of total storage if you max out its four storage options: two bays for SATA hard drives and two M.2 2280 slots with support for up to two SSDs (limited to PCIe 3.0 x1 speeds).
It’s also designed to […]

🤔 Ah, the latest in "tech journalism" where random strings of jargon like #RK3568 and #AMOLED are thrown together like digital alphabet #soup 🍲. One can only assume that the author is either a malfunctioning AI or a human who missed the memo on #coherence. 🎉 If only Elon could send this article to Mars! 🌌

fanless is a huge selling point for me though, so I'm now eyeing weird Chinesium brands offering fanless N150 mini PCs clearly aimed at being a router, some of which come with two or three USB 3.x ports.
check out these snippets from the #RK3568 data sheet btw, it seems like it can put each core into very deep sleep independently and do all sorts of other power saving tricks (independent clocking) like a grown-up SoC, would be interesting to know how much of this works with Linux (or OpenWrt specifically) out of the box :thonking:

Also #friendlyelec has declared #nanopi-r5s a LTS production device without a change to the BOM (based on my understanding). So I'm pretty stoked about it. By far the most useful #RK3568 implementation out there.

Theory confirmed: #RK3568 makes a decent low-buck archive NAS.
Been testing #btrfs raid1/raid1c3 on #nanopi-r5s with mismatched HGST refurb drives.
Definitely going to be a great landing zone for #borgbackup and rsync.

@mmeier AFAIK the kernel is fine but you need U-Boot support for RK35x8 too. You can track U-Boot support for RK35x8 here: https://github.com/Kwiboo/u-boot-rockchip and in the staging repo (before code lands in the main U-Boot repo): https://source.denx.de/u-boot/custodians/u-boot-rockchip I have an #Odroid M1 with #RK3568 which boots fine from code in the first repo. #sbc #arm

I got Fedora 39 (Rawhide) running on an Odroid M1 (on the NVMe drive). It required the latest u-boot plus a Fedora-specific patch (hope it gets upstreamed). Big thanks to Jonas for all his work on RK356X support in u-boot at https://github.com/Kwiboo/u-boot-rockchip
