  1. Every so often I get fed up with healthy food, and stop eating enough protein and veg.
Today I splashed out on a Riverford organic recipe. Not cheap but 2-3 meals of butternut squash with dukkah.
It is cooking now after my home help chopped, peeled and stirred.
The zero waste bag was a small watermelon, which I'll share, broccoli and uncooked beetroot.

  5. Here's a nice graphic of 6 ways to escape supermarkets from the latest Ethical Consumer Magazine.

Step 1 is huge: A weekly delivery not only gives added convenience but it ensures you get local produce that is good for you, the people who produced it and the planet. 🌱👩‍🌾🌍

If you don't have a local company then I'd highly recommend giving #Riverford a go. They put ethical standards at the heart of their business and deliver quality produce. I've got a free £15 voucher if you want to give them a test. 👇

  10. UK folks - in my #Riverford veg box today there was a flyer for an online petition to "Reform the Grocery Supply Code of Practice to better protect farmers" - seems like a great idea.

"We want the Government to amend the Grocery Supply Code of Practice (GSCP) to require retailers, without exception, to:

    - Buy what they agreed to buy
    - Pay what they agreed to pay
    - Pay on time"

  25. @ChrisMayLA6 don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.

Every #BCorp I’ve discovered in the #UK are existing, honest, reputable companies that have taken a step to formalise their values (#Riverford, #Alpkit, #KrystalHosting, #ZenInternet). It’s an extra badge or stamp that acknowledges their effort and certifies their honesty. Maybe in some cases it is not “enough” - of course there are always improvements to be made in anything… but it is something; something good.

  28. Strong language from our #Riverford veg box today - pretty justified too. #RightToRoam #Guillotines

"For centuries, while mainland Europe was in revolutionary turmoil, Britain’s rich and powerful avoided the guillotine by granting just enough, just in time. ... Now it seems that some feel responsibility only to themselves."
