  1. The tree on the ridge

I took this from the Coachford Greenway, shooting through the ditch instead of over it, which is why you’ll see the frame of dark leaves and grass. The sky was flat grey and heavy. A few minutes later it started raining, but I had an umbrella, and I had a couple of nice photos....

  3. Old Port, New Skyline

The stone warehouses along Custom House Quay have sat behind their green doors for as long as I can remember. Behind them the glass offices construction of the Railyard Apartments tower climbs up, with two cranes over the work. Two eras. Old and new....

  5. Christmas Eve on the Lee

Christmas Eve in Cork, and the fog had settled over the south channel of the Lee and stayed put all morning. It was 2005, and the banks of the river looked very different. The old tax office still stood on Sullivan’s Quay, and the Peace Park opposite still had trees a...

Christmas Eve in Cork, and the fog had settled over the south channel of the Lee and stayed put all morning. It was 2005, and the banks of the river looked very different. The old tax office still stood on Sullivan's Quay, and the Peace Park opposite still had trees and overgrown shrubs hanging over into the river.

  11. Shandon Above the Shopfronts

Cork's Pope Quay packs more character into two hundred metres than most cities manage in a mile. I was standing on the south bank with the River Lee between us, drawn initially by the sweep of that pedestrian footbridge. It's a clean, modern arc that sits surprisingly well against the jumble of modern, Georgian and Victorian facades behind it. The shopfronts tell the story of the neighbourhood in bold strokes: Coffee Scape and its Eastern European treats in hi-vis orange, MYO with its painted […]

  12. Had a nice lunchtime walk to the Marina promenade and back a couple weeks ago. The sun was out and the Korean food was tasty 😋 #cork #riverlee #ireland

  13. More moss and tiny flowers on Irish stone walls, this time next to the River Lee.

  16. Millennium Bridge After Dark

The bridge was built in 2004. I have some photos of that which I may dig up and link from here later.

  20. When the River Lee Becomes a Mirror

  21. So I live on a #boat now and everything gets organised through one Meta product or another - seemingly mostly Facebook and WhatsApp.

I have grudgingly joined some WhatsApp groups, but I refuse to book face.

So I’m trying some hashtags. Is #fediboat is a thing or maybe #Boatstodon? #BoatLife? #Boativerse? Obviously #boating. I can’t tell if any of these are used as I’m on a tiny server! #houseboat
    #offGrid #offGridLiving

    Or maybe local- #London #RiverLee #LeeNavigation

    Anyone out there?

  22. When the Lee Became a Mirror

The Banks of the Lee were quite different by the Peace Park in 2004. Trees and shrubs obscured the river from the small park. It looks so different now.
