My energy provider loves to tell you things like this.

What they don't tel you is that in that £9.45 and £8.30 figures... is the very pertinent fact that £7 of each one is just from the standing charges... 70p and 30p per day for each utility.

So it's even more impressive because we;ve reduced gas and electric use from £2.45 in an entire week, to £1.30.

But fuck those standing charges... £365 a year just to be allowed to receive electric and gas, whilst they boast about record profits and being 100% renewable energy providers... whilst charging you as if 100% of the electric was generated by gas.

Last year the bill was £1197 for the whole year... Almost 1/3 of that is standing charges.

New customrs are automatically put on payment schemes where they pay in advance (over the summer) for energy used in the winter

Just seen an article in the Guardian about fuel prices which mentions that the average price of #petrol is £139.7p a litre, the lowest level since Oct 2021.

Fellow Britons, you are being taken for a ride. In Thailand which has *no oilfields, only natural gas* and so has to import all its petrol, the price at the pump is about 84p.

I'll tell you what would help reduce peoples bills... that other countries in the EU have done that drastically reduced peoples bills due to high gas prices.

Disconnect the price of electricity from the cost of gas. because that's why we're paying so much. Even electricity generated from renewable's is priced to the consumer based on the price of generating it from gas.

So it's been the companies producing lots of renewable energy that's seen the largest profits.
