I wanted to post a Gordon Lightfoot song, so I listened to several, trying to avoid the obvious choice. I ended up going with the obvious choice. “If You Could Read My Mind” has always been a favorite, though I’ve never played it before. #gordonlightfoot #ripgordonlightfoot #canadianfolkmusic #singersongwriter #ifyoucouldreadmymind https://youtu.be/jqYQDrjPS24

"If You Could Read My Mind" was the first 45 I owned.
Thank you for that and many other great songs in the soundtrack of my life, Gordon Lightfoot.

Like many Canadians, I grew up listening to Gordon Lightfoot. He was like Queen Elizabeth II, a comforting constant in our little Canadian lives. They seemed immortal. But even the immortals move on. And so it is with the beloved chronicler of our stories. We are made lesser by his passing.

Black Day in July is Gordon Lightfoot’s most searingly powerful social commentary:
“And you say how did it happen
And you say how did it start
Why can't we all be brothers
Why can't we live in peace
But the hands of the have-nots
Keep falling out of reach”

It’s no less painful for being expected. #RIPGordonLightfoot

"I can't think of any Gordon Lightfoot song I don't like. Every time I hear a song of his, it's like I wish it would last forever.” — Bob Dylan

Raise your glass and say his name if you ever enjoyed his music.
Gordon Lightfoot has passed.

In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed
In the maritime sailors' cathedral
The church bell chimed 'til it rang a thirtieth time
For the bard of the Edmund Fitzgerald
