Rumspringa summer is ending and fall ango is nearly upon us. These are my commitments this season.
I'm still sangha-less. I never did write that blog post about how things went during the last sesshin. There's no way to sum it up well, but let's say my search continues. I'll be doing a sesshin at the only rinzai temple in France this season. If anything, I will have learned something.

#Hakuin Ekaku (1686–1769) revitalized Japanese #Rinzai #Zen through rigorous #kōan practice, dynamic integration of #awakening into daily life, and innovative teaching methods. His emphasis on post-#satori training and outreach to #laypeople established a lasting legacy in Zen #pedagogy. Read more about his life and teachings in this new blog post

#Kōans are central to #Zen, especially in the #Rinzai tradition, serving as #meditative tools that disrupt conceptual thinking and provoke direct insight. Far from mere riddles, kōans catalyze a shift beyond dualistic thought, guiding practitioners toward non-conceptual realization. Here is a brief overview of their role and function in Zen practice:

Ebisu-jinja was established by Myōan Eisai (明菴栄西) in 1202 to act as guardian for Kennin-ji (then being built), and to thank the god Ebisu for saving him from a storm when returning from the mainland.
Eisai is credited with bringing the Rinzai school of Zen and the tradition of tea-drinking to Japan.

Btw, I’m looking to follow a few more folks who practice #ZenBuddhism.
I’m a #SotoZen newbie & just attended my first sesshin. I’d like to expand my understanding & see how other folks interpret or explore their practices! Disabled ppl especially!
I combine my dharmic studies with science/skeptic based nature witchiness. (I’m also curious about I Ching & Chinese 5 Element studies, since I deeply relate to Tarot & 4 element witchcraft.)
