A week after the announcement, Verne's managing director admitted there is no robotaxies. The demo unit was supposed to be radio-controlled, but even that failed, despite the company saying they're developing the self-driving car for more than a few years, the whole show of calling the robotaxi from the app was just that - a show.

Honestly, I hoped 180M€ could buy a bit more.

I'm disappointed.

If you remember the last week Rimac, EV hypercar company, announced their new robotaxies called Verne. Unfortunately, the stage demo failed because the robotaxi failed to start. But hey, it's in the early stages of the development, no more than 180 million € of EU money has been given to the company, so it'll improve!

But that's not the reason I'm disappointed! I'm disappointed because it turned out those 180M bought only a week of self-driving fable!

Croatian electric car maker Rimac says it has set a new EV speed record. The Nevera, its second production vehicle, was just clocked in Germany going a blistering 412 kilometres per hour.

That pace – a third of the speed of sound, says test driver Miro Zrnčević – was a target Rimac set when it unveiled the €2 million supercar in 2018. It wasn't able to verify the vehicle's capabilities until this recent test.
