Spanish lace and leno lace - the first is much harder and time consuming to weave, and rubs a lot in one spot for the many heddle changes (fork as beater ftw!) But Leno feels much less structurally sound.
Also, I need to find a different pickup stick, the Ashford one is rough as and raises all manner of fluff snags on the cashmere once out.
Cashmere warp, mohair/nylon main weft, viscose/wool lace sections.

Not sure why it’s so pleasing to make cloth out of a bunch of string, but it really is. I keep squeezing my cloth rod to see how much I’ve finished already. 🤣

Bon. Mais pour les personnes toutes fauchées comme moi qui n'ont pas les moyens de s'acheter un métier à cadres et possèdent ou ont fabriqué un métier à peigne envergeur :
Y a complètement moyen de s'en servir comme d'un métier à quatre cadres. Il suffit d'avoir deux supports pour deux peignes sur le montant du métier, comme sur l'image ci-après. Ca s'imprime très bien en 3D et c'est tout facile à modéliser au besoin.

Et pour la multiplication des peignes à plusieurs DPI différents qui constituent quand même un budget, j'ai pensé à vous et j'en ai modélisé une petite palanquée qui devrait suffire ä couvrir tous les besoins, là aussi l'imprimante 3D est ton amie https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6471779

Ok, 12 dent heddle has been ordered for the loom so I’ll be able to weave thinner and tighter fabric. Now to get on getting some yarn that works with my current heddle … 🤔🤔

Realization this morning based on my recent sample weave: I probably either need to buy a new heddle for my large loom, or different yarn.
Or…both? Why not both? 😂🤣

Bonnes nouvelles du jour 2° (beaucoup plus modeste): les crochets à cheveux pour les tresses africaines c'est vraiment, vraiment supérieur à la passette pour enfiler un peigne de métier à tisser

Ca rend pas mal, ces tapis tissés en coton grossier (du 4 pour le macramé), une fois lavés et la fibre bien serrée en place.
Ce sont (presque) les mêmes couleurs qui ont été utilisées sur les deux, avec des résultats très différents (le beige foncé du tapis étroit n'est pas le même que le beige clair du tapis large). Reste à les découper, y adjoindre un revêtement antidérapant, et finir les bords avec une bande de biais, et fini les dérapages de chien dans l'escalier. Le bruit devrait passer de "potopoto" à "dougdougdougdoug" aussi. Ce qui sera un bonus pas désagréable.
Le prochain (oui je vais finir le stock de coton du coup) je tente des carreaux. J'aurai sûrement du rab, qui finira dans le shop

First warp and beginning weave for a rigid heddle loom! (I’ve done tablet weaving for a while but this is new.) I have no idea what the right tension feels like, since I’m learning from books and YouTube videos. And I’ve already realized things like - oh THIS is why people buy or make loom stands - my kitchen chairs are slightly too low when balancing the loom on the table.

OK OK OK je suis en train de glousser et de flapper comme un petit dindon sous amphétamines. Ça fait tellement du plaisir à mes yeux. Là je suis hypée. Là je suis vraiment très hypée.

Bricolage du jour : Sur le marché on trouve des peignes de taille super limitée pour les métiers à tisser à peigne envergeur. Du coup pour aller avec le métier à tisser imprimé en 3D dont j'avais déjà parlé et que j'avais trouvé là , j'ai fait une série de peignes de diverses taille (allant de 1/10 à 128/10 je crois bien, mais en inches, comme les originaux pour le métier de ten16). Il est possible de les imprimer avec une machine FDM , il suffit juste d'y aller avec une buse de 0.1 ou 0.2 et beaucoup de patience. Le print d'un segment prend un jour et des brouettes... Vous aurez juste besoin d'y ajouter deux tiges rondes en bois de 10mm de diamètre. Ça coûte dans les deux balles au brico le plus proche, par ici. #3Dprint #peigneenvergeur #rigidheddle #tissage #laine #fil

Oh et aussi : 3e écharpe! Ma préférée jusqu'à maintenant. Ca ne rend pas parfaitement bien en photo, mais sa couleur m'évoque beaucoup les mûres sous toutes leurs formes.

Still #weaving on my scarf. I now know, why you always get told to center your project on the loom. It's way easier to beat at an angle, if it's off center. Just warping until you run out of yarn isn't the best idea.
With weaving every step needs quite a bit more planning than I'm used with knitting or crochet.
Another, valuable lesson.

Instead of setting up the warp for my next #weaving project, I made an interactive calculator so I'm less likely to get the maths wrong again.

I've been playing with pivoting in #FreeCAD some more, figured it out (and I think there is a bug which caused it not working before), and decided to print it. The smaller side is only 0.6mm thick and 5mm tall, so it can pass the holes in the middle and carry the yarn with it.
These are a warping hook and a 15 dent rigid heddle, 3d printed #weaving tools of my design {that I've been too unmotivated/perfectionist to bring to a shareable state}. #3dPrinting #rigidHeddle -

My weaving is a bit of a slog, as I had some other commitments but I brought my loom home, so I’m hoping to make some progress here. I’ve thrown some yellow and orange snippets into the pink and blue to make it more sunsetlike.

This shawl is making its way to a new owner today. I hope she gets much enjoyment and use out of it. Woven on a #RigidHeddle loom, using my #Traligill non superwash organic merino (the charcoal grey - aka Assynt Peat) and my Burras singles merino (in various colours), it is as soft as a soft thing, and deliciously squishy. Pattern was from The Wheel, a magazine produced by Ashford.
