Our Naughty and Nice in anime is up on @damagecontrolblog. I spent most my time writing about Crunchyroll, but there's Discotek stuff in there as well. @Dio_Senrab as the most varied list, and The Drew covered what he did and didn't enjoy.

I still feel like I took a boot to the face after learning that RightStuf was being folded into the Crunchyroll brand. 36 years of excellence gone for the sake of corporate greed. I'm really displeased with Sony and Crunchyroll. I usually bought few DVDs or Blu-rays from Rightstuf around the holidays.
Looks like I'll have to seek out alternatives now.

Last boost: the best case for this would just be changing the branding and domain name on Rightstuf’s site, but it sounds like they’re at the very least transitioning things over to the Crunchyroll Store. They’re only bringing over accounts for customers in the US and Canada, and their store isn’t as functional as Rightstuf - lists don’t show any indication of an item’s release, nor can you sort by it, and looking at an item’s detail page doesn’t indicate if the logged-in customer has previously ordered the item. Comparing listings also suggests the CR store is unlikely to offer any meaningful discounts.

It blows my mind how Crunchyroll, which started out as a very brazen for-profit piracy streaming service, has effectively taken over the whole North American anime market (and maybe beyond? I'm barely aware of American anime news these days, let alone what's happening in the rest of the world).
I'm really saddened by today's announcement that they're shutting down Right Stuf, a great online anime retailer they bought just over a year ago.

Here's a FAQ at the Crunchyroll Store about the upcoming closure of Right Stuf:

Really annoyed by the Right Stuf closing news. I've been using them since the 90s when they would mail you a giant catalog of items, and you'd either call or mail an order in to them. Those catalogs were like Sears Christmas catalogs for the anime nerds.
Profound sadness when they got bought, and gutted by this announcement.
I still have 3 items on pre-order that don't release until late October, and I can't find any information on what will happen to them after October 10th.

AHHHH my #rightstuf order of the rest of #SlamDunk and #Haikyu (and two #BlackClover volumes) is scheduled for Thursday!!! Let’s fucking goooo. I can’t wait. But also, I have to shuffle so much to fit 38 more volumes I think 🤣
