I tried the Rift of the NecroDancer demo and had a lot of fun! It's a totally different game from Crypt of the NecroDancer except that the enemies are similar and it's still very much based on movement patterns and the same style of music, which is great because those are the things I liked. The introduction to the gameplay is much better, explaining one thing after another both in the actual tutorials and normal levels (on Easy). 🧵

CW: spoiler-less opinion about Rift of the Necrodancer
Finished Rift of the Necrodancer (and by "finished" I mean only the story)
The soundtrack is amazing (I mean, of course it is), the maps are solid, even though they aren't super readable sometimes (probably in part due to the fact enemies/notes move intermittently and not continuously like in most lane-based rhythm games; but in this case if they moved like this the game would feel less unique)
The story is okay. It wasn't especially ground-breaking in Crypt of the Necrodancer, but I know it's not the main focus of these types of games, so you'd probably not expect anything in particular. Still, it was fun to see Cadence interact with the rest of the cast.
I really wish we had more Rhythm Heaven-like minigames though (and maybe more bossfights). That was one main draw to this game, especially with Nintendo not doing anything with Rhythm Heaven. But we ended up having a grand total of five (5) minigames.
This said (and that's purely speculative on my end), the soundtrack for Rift of the Necrodancer was released with "Volume 1". Maybe they plan to add updates or DLCs?

#RiftOfTheNecrodancer is a perfect sequel that builds the entire game from the ground up while retaining the core of rhythm-based game mechanics. I think that means I have at least a few weeks with evenings filled with trying to beat a particularly stubborn section. Also, the soundtrack is great — a mix of rehashes of old tracks and quite a nice variety of fresh ones.

Never was able to FC Amalgamaniac on Medium difficulty in the demo (because the demo was removed before I could), so not only getting it now on the full game, but also with an S+ makes me happy.

Antes que nada quiero comenzar diciendo que yo lo juego todo desde la Steam Deck (la normal).
- Rift of the Necrodancer: Posiblemente el que más meses llevo esperando probar. De los creadores de Crypt of the Necrodancer, ahora han hecho un juego del género "pista de notas" (como Guitar Hero, las notas vienen hacia ti). Recomendadísimo, 11/10.
- Beatblock: El ritmo a seguir se construye a tu alrededor a 360º, te vienen notas por todas partes y tienes que mover el stick para dejar una "pantalla bloqueante" contra la nota y que no de al personaje que está en el centro. Hay que controlar esos golpes y ritmo pulsando botones. Es más fácil jugar con mando que no con ratón, posible vicio.
- Pairs&Perils: Juego de memoria roguelike en la que hay que emparejar atacantes con armas para poder avanzar mientras evitas cartas trampa. Compra reliquias y avanza por las mazmorras. Tiene muy buena pinta.#NextFest #Steam #SteamNextFest #RiftOfTheNecrodancer #música #ritmo #SteamDeck
