Original Death members Terry Butler and Rick Rozz are exhuming early Death songs in a band called “Left to Die.”
“Initium Mortis” is a collection of demo tracks and others that didn’t make it onto “Scream Bloody Gore” and “Leprosy.” It’s so absolutely delightful.
It’s uncanny how much Matt Harvey sounds like Chuck Schuldiner. His voice was like no other, and Harvey nails it. And drummer Gus Rios is true to the style of Bill Andrews.
If you’re a fan of the band that started death metal, you’re gonna love this. It slays. “Leprosy” is maybe my favorite death metal record. “Initium Mortis” brings that vibe back to life with nostalgia I didn’t know I needed.
