In this century, over 40% of the world's wealth increase has gone to the top 1% and the bottom 50% of people's wealth has increased by 1%.

In the UK 350 people have more combined wealth than the UK government spends on defence, education, social security and health.

Yesterday's #RichList showed inequality is only getting worse. In 1989, the billionaire class owned 4p in every £1 in the British economy. Now, they own 22p in every £1.

In the US the top 1% receive 20% of the whole of the US's GDP.

This simple disparity is the main economic factor preventing the growth of our economies.
