I played a game of the new edition of Magical Athlete with my wife and teenagers. The whole family seemed to like it. My 15 year old thinks it will be a big hit with their friend group of over the top personalities.
The art direction and illustrations totally elevate the game. It reminds me of The Electric Company and Sesame Street animations.

I'm really happy that Ghost Galaxy have announced the new Keyforge Discovery set. I've thought for a long time that the increasing number of mechanics in the game makes it hard for newcomers and that a mechanically 'lighter' set is required once in a while. Discovery seems to be exactly that. I also just love the maritime style of the set.

Magic: The Gathering has come a long way since it debuted at Gen Con in 1993. Last year, it became a billion-dollar brand. The genius behind it, mathematician Richard Garfield, left Wizards of the Coast, Magic's publisher, shortly after it was sold to Hasbro in 1999 and has subsequently expressed an apparent disillusionment with what the game has become. Got this game for Christmas, can be played with one or up to 4. Takes about an hour. You roll dice and get to move through the dungeon or do damage to a monster. Competitive Co-Op. Eg., youre working together to finish the dungeon, but trying to gather more treasure than other players. 4/5
Could see it being love or hate for some players. Especially those with discalculia or poor number sense.
