is our world today

Wistful yet pithy poetry – #richardbrautigan for the #1970club
Our year reading clubs are always a wonderful excuse to rummage in the stacks, search online and find out whether any favourite authors wrote a book that year. As our current choice is 1970, one of my ideas was to check out the work of Richard Brautigan, a writer whose books I love and who was publishing during the 1960s and 1970s.

I've posted it before, but I bumped into it again today and had my usual little chuckle. So I figured I'd share.
It's a (micro-)short story by Richard Brautigan. My favourite example of the form, I think.
Enjoy.

by Richard Brautigan"It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play the violin." That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

A Brautigan collection is now available in the store. The one without a title on it's cover is "The Pill Versus the Springhill Mining Disaster." I expect these won't last long.
8/2/23 Open 6-9p. No open containers, please.

Flicking through an anthology of Richard Brautigan's stories and once again found myself grinning at one of the finest ultra-short stories ever written...

Had eyesight problems as a kid, so ran away from books like plague. What was the first novel that got me into reading ? At about age 17, it was Trout Fishing in America by #RichardBrautigan
