Finished this 992 page behemoth of a novel by typographer #RianHughes , in which Earth is 'invaded' by ideas from outer space. Full of style shifts from fake wikipedia pages and BBC articles, to text-based graphic storytelling, to an entire novella presented as a serialisation from a 1970s science fiction magazine, this is one for people who enjoy formal play and metafictional tomfoolery. It is definitely too long, and there are parts that don't work, like some very clunky political / academic satire, but overall I enjoyed its ambition and playfulness. @bookstodon #bookstodon

I'd recommend #RianHughes' #XX. An epic story told with a bold and entertaining graphic twist. Some great, original ideas and the added bonus of a superb homage to 60s sci-fi paperbacks - introducing Herschel Teague - and not forgetting an accompanying soundtrack by #DJFood and #saronhughes
