    Between early June & 15 Aug 24, Min. of Health of India reported 245 cases of acute encephalitis syndrome including 82 #deaths (CFR 33%). Of these, 64 are confirmed cases of Chandipura virus (CHPV) infection. CHPV is endemic in India, with previous outbreaks occurring regularly. Current outbreak is largest in past 20 years. CHPV is a member of the #Rhabdoviridae family...

    Widespread #human #exposure to #Ledanteviruses {#Rhabdoviridae} in #Uganda: A population study journals.plos.org/plosntds/art

    Ledantevirus infection is common in Uganda but is geographically heterogenous. Further surveys of patients presenting with acute fever are required to determine the contribution of these emerging viruses to febrile illness in Uganda.
