With Reddit flirting with requiring Age verification, the next Rexit might be around the corner, are we ready?
With previous Rexit’s like the API debarcle etc. many users were left looking for an alternative, but with decision fatigue and bad UX etc. most did not find the Fediverse a viable option.
What needs to still improve, how can we be ready this time?

What are all the new API charges from social media about? Profits??
How about: in the AI era social media data is the new oil! That’s why they’re bringing back deleted content and don’t really care about 3rd party apps.
We’re no longer just the product, we’re the cattle whose resources are to be extracted no matter the damage.

I'd advise downloading and storing your #Reddit data before deleting or auto filling your posts with junk (as many are doing as part of #Rexit).
Post upload is spreading across Fediverse.
Calckey has post upload, and soon Twitter post history upload.
Pixelfed is rolling out post upload from Instagram.
Mastodon is working on post upload.
If Lemmy doesn't make post upload, then Kbin will, or both or even a new project that communicates heavily with both will do it.
Anyway better to download and keep that reddit data if possible before garbaging your account.

@[email protected] Heh. No worries. It requires making a new account (I know, a total PITA, but it's early days of this test) on kbin.social (which is having reliability problems due to the massive influx from #Rexit the last few days) and then posting an "article" in that "magazine".
Yeah, I don't like the terms used either. But it's early days! -
The YNAB reddit community is currently weighing wether to continue with their #rexit protest. An obvious option would be to shift to a Lemmy community but that doesn't appear to be a part of their conversation at the moment.

Wow. Rolling into Day 2 of #Rexit, and the vast majority of subreddits tracked on https://reddark.untone.uk/ seem to be participating.
I've reached for the app several times, but have managed to stay away. It's giving me more time to play around with #kbin, specifically this "magazine" (think subreddit) for the #AudioFiction community I'm testing live: https://kbin.social/m/audiofiction
And hey, if it works... why not? Even when the /r/audiodrama subreddit returns, I think I'll work on a solution to cross-posted to this federated version.
