Read "Revelation Space" by Alastair Reynolds, a story about some future space people investigating the demise of an extinct civilization.

Some of the people are software uploads or implants in other people's brains, or infectious biological agents and things.

The story is galactic in scale across time and space with good world building, a good tale weaving of elements together.

I liked the scene where the woman falling to her death in a lift-shaft remembered she was on a space-ship which only had gravity coz of engine thrust, so saved herself turning the engines off with a wrist controller.

Trouble is I came to it infrequently with long gaps and so struggled to keep track of what's going on quite a bit. Lots of different elements to keep track of.

My fault, should try and concentrate harder and remember things.

I finished reading Machine Vendetta by Alastair Reynolds.

It was great getting caught up with Prefect Dreyfus. This was a solid book, though probably not my favorite in this portion of Revelation Space.

I have finished reading Galactic North by Alastair Reynolds. Another good collection of short stories. It was good to get some more time with Nevil Clavain, and to see some of the Sol system events that really kicked everything off. Nightingale reminded me a lot of Diamond Dogs - it's a bit like if Rendezvous With Rama were a horror story.

If you've invested time in reading the Revelation Space books, this is a worthwhile addition.

I finished reading Turquoise Days by Alastair Reynolds.

This one was not horror-like, which was nice. Always good to see the Pattern Jugglers feature in a story. Such an interesting idea, and so little is known about them in the series.

Between the two I think Diamond Dogs was probably my favorite of these two stories. Both great additions to the universe though. Also seemed there may have been a reference to Diamond Dogs in Turquoise Days.

I finished reading Diamond Dogs by Alastair Reynolds. Now on to Turquoise Days.

Diamond Dogs turned out to be a bit more body horror than I had expected. Interesting read, but glad it wasn't expanded out into a full length novel.

1. Some of Dune. Haven't read them in a while, but just didn't feel compelled to read it all.
2. The Wheel of Time (of course).
3. Book of the New Sun
4. A Song of Ice and Fire (never gonna be finished)
5. Some of Sword of Truth. I wish I could take it back.
6. Stormlight Archive

To others that have read some or all of these to completion, I would recommend checking out the #RevelationSpace series by Alastair Reynolds.

My second scifi submission for Vol 14. This is also based on the writting of Alastair Reynolds, this time it is "The Last Stand of John the Revelator", from his book Inhibitor Phase.

As with the last one, a mix of Blender, C4d with Octane and Photoshop. Also used Embergen for the explosions.

Wow, Alastair Reynolds published a new #RevelationSpace novel last year & I somehow missed it!?

I just love that series, its universe & style. It's distinct, hefty and deliberate.

There's also an audiobook out, and it's once again narrated by John Lee. I love how he brings to life all the weird names and distinct personalities from the series. I hear his voice in my mind even when reading the paper editions of these books myself.
