I have young kids, and they love playing a #retropi from time to time. Madden 98, MarioKart, Mario, Sonic, etc.

Where do people source their ROMs for #retropi ?
Its many years since I last ran it - I thought that last time I just booted it up and stuff magically appeared.

I've a raspberryPi I'm planning on getting up and running with #RetroPi
I'd like to get a pair of wireless controllers up and running so wor lass and I can game together.
What's the easiest most bomb proof method? I really don't want to spend my evenings debugging shit, I was us to hang out and play Bubble Bobble together.

Today I've been utterly useless to my family. I've done some pointless shit like unsuccessfully adding extra games to #RetroPi, successfully getting rid of the deadzone on my old #XBox steering wheel in #ForzaHorizon5 on #Steam on #ArchLinux...

In my wife's eyes, the only useful thing I've done was to remove and clean up a big box "it might get useful someday" things. But honestly, I've only done it so I can lower my desk far enough so I can use mentioned steering wheel...😅

I figured #EmulationStation does need some recompiling, for the new libraries...

Poor #RaspberryPi 4, has been going for 2 hours now...😅

I’m so happy my #KidsOnBikes do not crave Minecraft or Roblox…

They’re very excited to play #RetroPi games, I’ve set up for them…

The first of the discounted #8BitDo #SN30Pro controllers is here. It’s been said to be an exposition unit, but I have no damn idea to what it has been exposed, because it looks freaking perfect…

It’s also in a nice retro color scheme (G Classic) and it is perfect for those little hands that will use it with #RetroPi.

Got it for half the price…🥰

My only grieviance is with the fucking Raspbian/RetroPi for the bluetooth setup…🤣

Anyone that could push me in the right direction with a small "just for fun" project?

- According to the docs (https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/) not everything is installed. Is there any information, which emulators are coming with the default image? Or the other way around: how do I know, which Emulators are installed so that I can either add additional ones or know which ROMs I could play out of the box?

- Roms... On Reddit there is a "megathread 4.0" which links to github. Github links to Myrient and the Internet Archive. I'm not sure.... everyone is talking about copyright: Are the Roms on Internet Archive or Myrient legal or not?

Tonight's #Tedium has me thinking about a new project.

Take a wood grained retro cable box and make it a #RaspberryPi case for a home media/gaming setup. Throw #Jellyfin in, maybe even #retropi, then gut an old VCR and turn it into a little homemade NAS.

Have a retro look with today's technology

If nothing else, looking at all that underneath the TV will bring back good memories of yesterday, when I was young.😂 #GenX

You'd think after spending some money on PC mount and #UniFi #network I've had enough... Not even close!😆

I'm now looking at #RaspberryPi #HAT #PoE extensions for both my "server" Pi 5 and 4B #RetroPi, so I can ditch 2 of those bulky power supplies...

The money pit is truly bottomless, because the next idea is to buy a small rack enclosure, an old 1U server chassis and put that RPi 5 board in it, along with the network gear...😅

Lazy Game Reviews #LGR just turned 15! His "birthday video" is a nice summary on the huge developments in #retrogaming during that period. Also, I appreciate that he pointed out how good #Linux has become (11:30), as it is really a significant driver of the success and growth of that scene.

I dug out my RetroPi after having done a huge pi swap to get my cluster up and running. It’s been sitting in my network rack for two years. There were 360MB of updates including new Bluetooth, WiFi, OpenSSL, and a kernel.

Do you feel like the Atari 2600 games should only be played like Bushnell and Dabeny meant them to be played?
