"The C64", das beigene C64-Handheld, was jetzt kommen soll, finde ich ja wider realistischer Abwägungen, süßer als gedacht.
Vor allem, weil es auf dem Photos zumeist "Sams Journey" geladen hat; ein wirklich ausgezeichnetes Jump'n Run der Post-2000er. Was auch zeigt, dass sich die Macher:innen mit der aktuellen Retrogaming-Szene auskennen und gewillt sind, die wirklich guten Leute da zu unterstützen.

Aber!
Ansonsten ist da nichts, was man auch mit einem halb so teuren Noname-Retro-Emuboy aus China oder sonstwoher haben kann. Dort dann auch mit Support nicht nur für C64, sondern auch Megadrive, NES, PC-Engine, SNES, GBA... you name it. All in One. Keine künstliche Beschränkung. Ist dann in Terms of Roms, die gern gleich in 1000er Stückzahlen mitgeliefert werden, mehr oder weniger illegal. Und sieht eben nicht so dolle nach C64 aus.
Die "25 Roms" (in dem Fall über die Hälfte eher Images) die beim "The C64" mitgeliefert werden, sind nicht immer ideal. Zum Beispiel ist Speedball 1 wesentlich besser auf dem C64 gelungen (coole Portraits, coole David Whittaker Musik, grafisch kristallklare Arenen, kein hässliches Gedithere) als Speedball 2. Letzteres gehört einfach auf ein 16bit Gerät.
Was liefern sie mit: Speedball 2?!
Prinzipiell geht die Spieleauswahl dennoch größtenteils in Ordnung. Gleich zwei sehr gute Rainbow Arts Spiele (X-Out, Spherical), Nebulus und ein paar neue Sachen (neben dem erwähnten Sams Journey auch das excellente "A Pig Quest", was ja übrigens Piggy18 ist!)... fein.Aber ich darf mich nicht zum Konsum bewegen lassen!! Ich hab das alles schon (sämtliche Spiele, die ich nannte, außer Speedball 2 im Original) und kann das alles locker mit Klemm-Gamepad auf dem Handy spielen (eine Option).

Really enjoying LUNAR - Silver Star Harmony.
I never played many RPG styled games growing up as they always seemed overwhelming to me with how you have to monitor and maintain your characters.
But LUNAR's been fun and has a simple enough battle system even for me to understand.
Are there any other similar RPGs that anyone would like to recommend. Keep in mind I am only 2hrs into LUNAR. haha...

So what's the meaningful difference in the different models of the Ayn Thor? Reviewers have the wonderful tendency to talk about the CPU model differences, but not what those differences entail for the end user.
Can the Base model play Switch emulation? Is the Max model overkill? Is the Lite model not useful for anything practical?

So the latest trend in retro emulator handhelds are DS-style handhelds and that's really cool! What isn't cool is that none of them seem to come with a slide-out stylus! Imagine playing a DS without a stylus!!!! Heresy!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like playing it this way sometimes. The only downside is the text is a teeny bit hard to read. But it's more portable this way!

After years of searching games to pick up and play whenever, I have to say #RetroHandhelds with a suspend option is the best choice for me.
But while I can always play Kirby in the #3ds without thinking too much, I have found myself avoiding the #psp with FF tactics as it is more mentally draining (who would have thought?)
So I #askfedi for recommendations of PSP games (emulators and #ps1 are ok too).
Currently I have Project Diva 2nd, Space Invaders, Lumines and Gradius in the psp.

Retroid Pocket Mini received an update for Android 13.
I was hoping this update would enable pure black mode (which looks awesome on the borderless display of the black model). But it turns out that feature was added in Android 14 😢
I really wish retro handhelds were supported by FOSS Android distros like LineageOS.
Still, I'm quite happy with the update. This time I decided to try Molla launcher (https://github.com/sinusinu/Molla) and ES-DE 🙂

Modded my RP Mini with PlayStation buttons.
I used buttons for the Odin 2 Mini from SakuraRetroModding on Etsy. They fit without any modifications, except that the original buttons are glued to the membrane. Thankfully, it's easy to unglue them by cutting through the glue with nails.
The new buttons are quieter, have a lower profile, and feel similar to an Xbox controller overall. I'm really happy with the mod!

Finished SMW - Merry Mountain Christmas Adventure.
It lets you switch between 4 different characters on the map screen. Each one have unique physics and a special move. Also there is one additional unlockable character.
Bosses also very interesting. Each have unique mechanics. They are way harder then the original, but not super difficult.
What I didn’t like is that many surfaces are slippery. It makes the game feel a bit unfair sometimes.
