Saw a lovely home today in the perfect location with an EPC ‘B’ (86) score. It had solar pv and high performance double glazing. The decor looked quite safely neutral…
But then I saw it had artex on the ceiling…and they had drilled spotlights into it.
And that’s when my heart sank.

“Our Victorian school buildings have become greenhouses. The government must step up. We need urgent, massive capital investment to #retrofit our ageing school estates with proper ventilation, shading, and climate-resilient cooling infrastructure. Expecting schools to carry on like normal right now is dangerous.”’

Just sat in a meeting talking about a ‘post government funding world for #retrofit’… the vision is that banks will fund this work through loans and they will want it done as cheaply and efficiently as possible. That’s going to mean assessing using monitoring systems rather than trained human assessors and coordinators who visit the properties.
You might think ‘great - technology makes things cheaper and more efficient!’
I just see unintended consequences that will cost a fortune to put right.
