Another eBay parts or repair item. I replaced 1 fried resistor
on the power supply with a higher wattage part along with better electrolytic caps. The little board connecting the power supply to the main board is part of an experiment. The RF modulator is pretty stable. Don’t @ me on composite mods. This is how I choose to remember and play the Intellivision; my “Atari” back in the day.

So I fixed the tracking problems with this Sony Discman and it can play from the beginning of a disc with no problems. Sadly the adjustment I made was most likely the voltage adjust for the laser diode, but a 33 year old laser diode ain’t exactly new. The tracking assembly is completely re-greased though and a shot of deoxit cleared up the volume control. Not bad for eBay “parts or repair.”

Hello fellow #laserdisk and/or #electronics nerds. I bought a #pioneer CLD-2700 today for scrap pricing. It does not turn on, at all. No standby light, no nothing.

I found a suspiciously rusty looking screw in the psu area that looks suspiciously like electrolyte damage?

Can someone with a bit more experience than me weigh in? I'm pretty comfortable with soldering and such but I'm really not good with analogue electronics or power supplies.

I have successfully upgraded this minidisc player-recorder from a dead 800 mAh lithium ion battery to a new 2.7 mAh lithium polymer battery using a 3d printed gumstick adapter, some thick aluminum foil, and painters tape (for easy removal).

Here it is happily charging its new battery.

It always saddens me to trash old tech. I was holding onto this old TV tube from early 1960s, hoping someone needful would want it, but there are probably 3 old geezers left on the whole continent left who would want one.
The guy at the TV repair store only had flat screens and wasn't at all interested 🥲
Plus, it was made in #Australia.
