Retractions rechtzeitig zu erkennen ist gar nicht so einfach. Allein 2023 wurden weltweit mehr als 10.000 wissenschaftliche Artikel zurückgezogen. Mit Retraction Watch und dem Zotero-Plugin behält man den Überblick und erkennt Retractions direkt in der eigenen Literaturverwaltung.

“In my opinion, metric-based recognition without integrity screening can inadvertently legitimize problematic practices. That risk is particularly acute in environments where publication is tied to career progression but where research funding, infrastructure, and oversight remain weak. These conditions can – and often do – fuel paper mills, coercive citation policies, and other unethical behaviors.”

New study: "Non-selective databases (#Dimensions, #OpenAlex, #Scilit, and #TheLens) index a greater amount of retracted literature than do databases that rely their indexation on venue selection (#PubMed, #Scopus, and #WoS)…The high coverage of OpenAlex and Scilit could be explained by the inaccurate labeling of retracted documents in #Scopus, Dimensions, and The Lens."
