  3. And I just realised I got my dates confused and submitted my next review a week early!

    Normally, that's not an issue, but with so many places shutting their doors, it can be a problem (I've walked into places to review only to find out they'e on their unannounced last days). Luckily, this place isn't in danger or closing between now and next week.

  13. Looked at the calendar and the weather forecast and decided to get all my grocery shopping for the next 10d, recipe testing ingredients and the next review supper.

    The review supper is a bit of a gamble. Needed to do a last minute substitute. My editor is on hols, not checking emails. Given my sched decided to go for it. Hopefully the others haven’t snagged it.

    Should be home well before the storm hits.

  14. it may sound cheezy, but today's my favourite day of my restaurant reviewing year.

    Today, I called and texted the restaurants that I'm listing in my year-end column.

    It was a super-tough year, with so many owners crying while chatting about the business.

    I don't hold any airs -- I don't pretend to make/break restos or be a taste maker - but I know it's a bit of an emotional boost for them, that can translate into a bit of extra traffic.
