I dropped my daughter off at Pine Tree Camp, which is one of the few decent camps for young people with special needs. This is Alice's second year there and she loves it. She was so excited and so happy she was about to explode. This is a good experience for her because everything in the camp is as accessible as possible. This is good for us because we get 5 days of #respite In a typical year we might get 8-10 days of respite. It's not enough.
So was it worth it for me to get up at 4:30 this morning to leave at 5:30 for a 6 hour drive up and then a 6 hour drive back? Why yes, yes it was. #downSyndrome #parenting #IAmSoTiredRightNow -

My 17 year old son likes to serenade me with his acoustic guitar and I happily accept the invitation, no matter how late in the evening or how tired I feel. These precious moments I will take with me into the great beyond but for now... I'd like to share a brief moment of aural joy with you.
