  1. JWST resolved a galaxy from 800 million years after the Big Bang while NEO Surveyor — the only NASA mission Congress has required by statute — remains roughly 30 years behind its city-killer catalog deadline, and the gap is a lesson in what makes a problem fundable inside the same agency

  2. I patched to #zerotier to support its DNS setting via #systemd #resolved but I could use some input on the use of #polkit rules to authorize DNS changes (right now I'm making assumptions about #fedora ).

  4. Xcode 26.4's Release Notes subheadings include anchors, but unfortunately the anchor IDs are the text of the subheading.

There are a lot of #Resolved-Issues anchors in that document. #AppleDevelopment

  6. I'm having a problem with Mullvad not working on Qubes...

Something happened that made Mullvad stop working altogether or become super unreliable...

    I'm stuck on this part:

    "Make sure that WireGuard connects"
    1️⃣ Run
    sudo wg-quick up /home/user/se-got-wg-001.conf

    When I run that I get a

    "resolvconf: command not found"...

so all I have is to install resolvconf, got it...omg, how could this take me 2 days to figure out!?

  7. #resolved is resolved (in #Debian).
Oh am I going to miss it.

  9. It's a minor issue that we had with Dnsmasq, but we've run into this issue and documented it, so you don't have to 😉

  11. Because the excellent (and beloved for a decade or so) #reeder by @rizzi does not support #TLSClientAuth for feeds* I spent a few hours on Yak-Shaving and on learning about #caddyserver #systemd-#resolved and - in the end - about #iCloudPrivateRelay.
If a local request is handled like an external request it may be because ... it's coming in as an external request.

    * I’m sure I’m the only one left on the planet who has rss feeds with Client Certificates, so this is fine!

#Italy - Man #arrested for Sharon Verzeni #murder. The poor woman found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time - Ansa.it. She was out alone late at night. Sounds as if she thought she lived in a safe neighborhood.

  15. Ask Me synchronicity ... 18 years later

In 2006, ninazer0 asked for help identifying three works of English juvenile historical fiction, later finding the answer to one of the mystery texts.

In 2024, tangerine asked about mid-century kids' historical fiction about the Hanseatic League, and paduasoy's suggestion was not the author OP was looking for -- but it did resolve the remaining earlier mystery! Then melisande added more info for the earlier question. Delightful!

  17. @mdione no, it doesn't make sense to use . Instead debug hostname issues with command: getent ahosts <name>. That uses exactly same algorithm as common app.

  19. 72 years ago in Iowa, a worker named Mary Foss wrote a message onto an egg. She put the egg into a carton and sent the carton out for distribution. Last month, someone responded.

  21. I can't stand this anymore. dig @127.0.0.53 works, but curl can't resolve anything. Fuck you #resolved, fuck you in particular for making the DNS issues completely opaque.

services.resolved.enable = false. I can totally manage my /etc/resolv.conf by hand becasue I resolve everything through coredns rules either way.

#DNS shouldn't be this complicated! The only job resolved does is resolving shit, and I don't want to know why it can resolve it via UDP fine, but not via whatever curl talks to it

  23. @itisiboller @jerry Ha ha, it seems more people came to "love" . I have created something similar. github.com/pemensik/unresolved

  24. @jerry This was really weird as I - at the same time - had issues with DNSSEC on all of my domains (or so I thought) but it boiled down to an issue with systemd-resolved on the system used for testing.

    Hence github.com/martinboller/die-re came to be

    #systemd #resolved #DNS #DNSSEC #dig #delv #Linux

  25. I need help with this #systemd #resolved thing. Sometimes (when I update the networking configs in #nixos) the #dns just ends. And even getting the resolved out of the picture doesn't help. I'm actually at loss as to what causes this and how to debug it proper.

Roman Numerals, as they are still used today, are bad. The fact, say, Constitutional amendments are still rendered in Roman numerals, either officially or by anyone, really, is bad.

Yes, you can, and sooome kids doooo learn them as an alternate numeral system.

But so what? They are minor but obvious extra barriers to memorizing, say, Constitutional amendments: a task often asked of children in our society, after which we then... judge them for their capability to do that.
