I hate that this happens, and it would happen less with fewer trolls and ugliness. But that comes with the fight.

I've been experiencing my own inner conflict lately. I effectively "quit" a long time ago, but haven't ever let go. There's been this sense that as soon as I get well, I'll jump right back into it. Then years pass. Close to a decade passed.

I have kept posting here, with a more limited audience, but the brain fog has made it nearly impossible and I feel like the serious stuff I have posted in the last year is incoherent.

The fact that these other, newer influencers are burning out, idk it helps me let go. I'd surely want Life Take Two or Parkrose Permaculture to do the healthy thing. They've done really well for the cause for a very short time, and of course they should get to rest if they want. So why not have that compassion for myself?

Not that I'll stop hoping to get back into it. (After all, my living is semi-based in needing a "platform." Publish or perish.) I enjoyed the work when I was capable of it.

But if I ever AM going to get back to it, maybe I need to fully let go of what I had. I picked my lane, I did my work, and though wasn't as much as I'd hoped, I did all that I could. I set it free into the universe, so I should set myself free.

We'll need new voices to step into their places.

I know "slacktivism" gets a bad rap, but it really is important work. It's HARD work. It's easy to burn out doing it.

But as people who believe in collective action and mutual aid, there is always room for new temporary team heroes to step up and do a run when the rest of us need to step back or change lanes.
