Thanks for all the answers so far! There's a diversity of recommendation so I wonder if people have a favourite slicing program, in my case it's for #ResinPrinting (I don't know if it makes a difference), usually for very small items, with a Phrozen Mini 8K.

MyMiniFactory is raising funds for a new open-source, AI-free resin slicer. There's a ton of options for FDM printers, but the landscape of resin slicers is still pretty thin, and with Lychee getting more bloated and a $100/year subscription, a new community built option would be a huge benefit.

I used to price resin miniatures by hand: open slicer, load STL, slice, read resin usage, copy into a spreadsheet.

While learning Python, I wondered if a tiny dense neural network could become my 3D printing cost calculator instead. So I scripted PrusaSlicer and UVtools, built a dataset from thousands of slices, and trained artist-specific models.

Now a quiet bit of business automation with AI predicts how much resin to use for each model in seconds—and I get my evenings back.

I'm afraid I've made a mistake, or rather, a bad purchase. After about 20 hours of printing with the new resin printer, I have to admit that it's not for me at all. The workflow is completely different, the tools required are different, you need a lot more space (which I don't actually have) and well... as many here have already said: it stinks!

So I'll probably part with it and stick with FDM printing. Instead, I'll invest in a Bambu Lab P2S or Snapmaker U1.

Well... hindsight is always 20/20. 😟

Really wanted to get some painting in this weekend but didn’t quite get there. Did manage to get a bunch of stuff based / primed though:

- My kid’s Raven Guard AoD #KillTeam — he’s been carefully kitbashing these which has been delightful to see. When he had the idea he asked me if we could look for some printable bird skull helmets and it turned out that was very doable!
- A proxied Hunter Clade kt I’ve been building — still waiting on the awkward oval base for one of the gunners though. Really happy with the customised ruststalkers / infiltrators!
- The extra models I’ve built for my beaky AoD kill team — these had been sat waiting to be based / primed for a while…
