Great to hear #Queensland Chief Scientist Hugh Possingham follow his acknowledgement of country with a proper and sincere acknowledgement of privilege.

Excited about #EcoCommons being launched soon(-ish, next year), integrating and building upon a lot of tools to empower ecologists. I've been lucky enough to help out at a couple of #RStats training sessions offered in the lead up to the launch.

Thanks Elisa Bayraktarov for presenting it! #ResBazQld @rstats

Paul Andrea Martinez from #ARDC presenting on “Research Software Visible, Citable and Sustained”.
Great to have Paula lead the discussion around #researchSoftware sustainability and recognition.Slides (with many great references and links) are here: https://zenodo.org/record/5720704

Still a lot of unfortunate conflation between #OpenAccess and #OpenData. Or even between the whole of the #OpenScience umbrella term and parts thereof.
Chief Scientist Cathy Foley is leading an (welcome) Open Access push, not an Open Data push (even if they are quite linked), as far as I know.

Tim Sherratt is telling us about the project "The Real Face of White #Australia"
https://www.realfaceofwhiteaustralia.net
"The White Australia Policy was about people – people whose lives were monitored and restricted because of the colour of their skin. This experimental browser enables you to explore the records of the White Australia Policy through the faces of those people."

If you're in #Meanjin/Brisbane, or not too far, there's a great, super-cheap conference on research + digital skills at UQ at the end of November: ResBaz QLD 2021. Probably my favourite, relaxed, small conference.
Lots of great talks and workshops, especially related to early-career researchers, #eResearch, #openSource tools, #OpenScience, #skillSharing... 💗I've been more or less involved in them over the years. I really recommend joining.
