Still a solid read, but it read more YA than I remembered. Also the FMC's rage, tho founded, was written in a way that overwhelmed the story and world. -

I had forgotten how great some of the asides were, like I remembered a generally snarky tone but the line about "Mensah underestimated my ability to ignore humans, but I appreciated the thought" cracked me up.

I apologise for the low rating. As I am rereading THHGTTG, I am reminded of why this fourth volume of the trilogy did not stick with me. It contained too much uninteresting romance, and not enough Marvin.

Latesr reread has been "The Word for World is Forest" by Ursula K LeGuin. Exploring the Avatar ideas long before Avatar. A fine short novel. Cultural conflict, ecological disaster, violence. Rereading keeps distracting me from reading the new forest of stories before me. A happy dilemma.

Last week while I was looking for something this little book called out to be read. Again. But I’m reading something else and my to read list is only getting longer. I did not argue for long though. Craving a short and fun #read after the #epic 1000+ page plus #WheelOfTime #book, and given I'm flaring neurologically, I've picked #Stardust by #NeilGaiman for my next read. This is a #reread for me. It's not my absolute favourite of his, but I really enjoy it. Made into a great #film of course, but it was an illustrated storybook first. This also happens to be the month's read for a #bookClub run by a #YouTuber I back on #Patreon. #books #reading #fantasy #fiction #fairyTales

Been continuing my #reread of #MemorySorrowAndThorn by Tad Williams. I'm on To Green Angel Tower now, and there are only a couple of things I vaguely remember that haven't happened yet. But I'm not yet into what would have been part 2 of this book, which now has me wondering whether I ever finished it before. I don't recall how it ended.
I think it's pretty likely that I never read part 2 of the book before. So that's exciting to look forward to.

Maybe this is just me, but when I was tracking books in #Goodreads I almost never #reread anything because the app made it such a pain to enter rereads
Now that I’m on #StoryGraph it’s way easier so I’m rereading all sorts of things and loving it!
(I realize reading log software shouldn’t dictate what I read, it’s a big part of why I switched)
Currently rereading the original #Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, and it’s phenomenal all over again

So I finished re-reading Foundation, by Isaac Asimov.
My first impression continued:
Narrative was way faster / breezy than when I read it 40 years ago. Doesn't feel so "grand" as it did then.Weird/jarring:
- patriarchy, casual misogyny, women almost totally absent.
- smoking smoking smoking!Very definitely a book about the Cold War, and an argument for soft power. It was 1951 after all.
A book *very* much of its time, and narrowly so.
Not great *literature* tho.

The true unsung hero, of course, was the thrush.
Now I'm finishing my #UnfinishedTales #ReRead. I'd totally forgotten that the Blue Wizards, who were lost in Rhûn, had names in Valinor.
If only we had their stories.
