"Who paid for the report?
This is a good place to start and it should come as no surprise that research proclaiming the positive impact of TikTok was paid for by (you guessed it) TikTok."
#DamienVenuto, 2026

The "research" discussed in this article is a great example of defensive reputation laundering. ToxTik are probably stockpiling self- congratulatory fluff like this in preparation to fight off any attempt at regulation.

I've just read a post around British politics by a respectable account that ticks boxes for it functioning as "Defence of the slime".
Somewhat boggled.
Though a widely respected journalist unknowingly or knowingly laundered Elon Musk's reputation in an article in The Atlantic. Based on the thinnest of threads.
And so many of the (non-space exploration) accounts I was following expressed delight and offered congratulations to India when its moon mission succeeded.

Tucker Carlson reaches for credibility?
Has he got Paul Manafort doing reputation laundering for him?
Maybe buy a golf tour like the bone-saw prince?
Or an article gets written about Tucker in The Atlantic? Like Elon Musk.

The cunning of the Free Speech Onion methodology is hard to fully appreciate, unless you've spent decades working in independent media, learning to identify and filter out reputation laundering and NewSpeak ("PR"). Or perhaps spent a similar length of time as an anticorporate activist or campaigner against other forms of military-industrial power.
They're very good at sounding reasonable and balanced, while framing debates in ways that support their biases.

Beware of reputation laundering! Looks like the DataFarmers have paid some marketing pod people to try to co-opt the phrase 'Social Web' to include the legacy social media platforms it's being built as a replacement for. Or some pod people just decided there's money to be made in doing that off their own bat, but they're usually not that forward-looking;

This is the PM photographed in a fucking Rio Tinto hi-vis shirt, whose gov has approved more and more fossil fuels projects.
There may be some good stuff in the new laws - or maybe not - but this article reeks of being spin doctorrng, perception management.
Where is the actual analysis of the fucking legislation?

Netanyahu's got an "8th front" going - he's looking to do #ReputationLaundering and convince folk that it wasn't genocide but instead that the slaughter and starvation of innocents was legal.
People pay an aweful lot to get their reputation laundered. Countries who've done genocide probably a whole lot more.
#TomNicols might not even know that he's doing $Hasbara
Here's #AnneApplebaum, also at #TheAtlantic. Maybe also unaware.

CW: murder most foul
Bonesaw kingdom needs to launder its filthy reputation. (Literally butchered a journalist.)
They're paying real money to really nasty people to do that using golf. LIV golf precisely.
Of course they want to destroy Australia's Aboriginal heritage to make money - they're utterly corrupted.

"... I used to study medicine, I was training to be a doctor. But I couldn't actually afford my rent because it was London, so I had to work in marketing on the side. Then I started to really get into marketing to the point where I actually left medicine ..."

His job could have been saving people's lives, but instead it's persuading them they want stuff. That's heartbreaking.

#MikeWirth's wikipedia entry.
(I note an absence of emphasis on Mike's complicity in high greenhouse gas emmissions. I suspect #ReputationLaundering for profit is in play.)

I read the 2002 piece by #AnneApplebaum.
GenAI would do better. [cringe]
Post linked below is centred on another article Applebaum wrote. It functioned as #ReputationLaundering for #Musk.
Is this #BoutiqueJournalism?

This'd be the second reported shut-off by #Musk?
Wonder if what looked exactly like a #ReputationLaundering campaign will kick in again and have respected journalists and publications like #AnneApplebaum and #TheAtlantic putting out more exonerations of Musk shutting off data based on very flimsy evidence?
Amazing what billions of dollars can buy.
And is Musk a RU asset? Or is there a more #QuidProQuo relationship?

Looking back from the other side of the Likud/IDF genocide in Gaza, and the aggressive wars they've launched against a number of neighbouring countries, it's hard to see this "post-mortem" of Corbynism as anything other than a hatchet job;
https://audioboom.com/posts/7480572-labour-s-institutional-antisemitism-crisis
Running interference for the UK establishment's desire to keep UK foreign policy locked to that of the US. By smearing any and all criticism of Israel by the left as "antisemitism".

"Moved past"?
As in the monster responsible is in jail, the #BoneSawKingdom has released full details of their cover-up, & given up trying to do #ReputationLaundering?
-
You're addicted to alcohol, eh? You think alcohol is bad, do you?
Well, why do you buy so much of it then? #Gotcha!

Seems Tiger had concerns about the #BoneSawKingdom's #ReputationLaundering attempt with #LIVGolf?
Which would be normal for anyone not supporting torture, murder and dictatorship.
Though Vannessa's judgement looks suspect, what with her having been involved with the Trumps.
Maybe she has grown up, matured, gotten older and a little wiser? Though I'm thinking she might know where some bodies are burried (metaphor) and probably owes America an exposè book.

The #ReputationLaundering fee does seem low. I think #PaulManafort made millions doing this stuff - and for killers of similar ilk to Assad.
-
Suggests another possibility to try at The Hague in 203x.
"I stayed on performing my duties so I could try to moderate his actions."
(Make sure you send this in a memo to your biographer now so that a future journalist can quote it when #ReputationLaundering is needed.
See #AnneApplebaum's piece on Musk, RU and switching off navigation data for an example.) -
@Spoon
Another Golfing Great (but a Trumpian nutjob who is commissioner and CEO of the #BoneSawKingdom's LIV golf reputation-laundering attempt, who'd certainly be kneeling and panting at Trump's coronation next in line to his fellow Aussie, the cardboard box king #AnthonyPratt.)#GregNorman #LIVGolf #ArnoldPalmer's dick #ReputationLaundering

Reputation laundering Shillese, lesson 3;
"Apple said the fees reflect the expansive value its app store provides. The initial acquisition fee 'reflects the value the App Store provides when connecting developers with customers in the EU'."
Translation;
Stopping these people getting apps anywhere but our app store provides value, to us. By charging you anytime they try to pay you for your work. Which not only cost us nothing, but adds value to our OS.
-
"We were called in for a staff meeting and our research director told us;
There's a lot of activists and journalists snooping around and trying to enquire about our funding... from the oil industry... If anybody talks to you... send them to me instead.
For an academic institution to actually tell its researchers; don't tell other people where your funding comes from!"

The normalisation of the misleading buzz phrase "PR" ("Public Relations") to describe their work, has been one of the greatest opinion-shaping successes of the reputation laundering industry. More recently, they've even succeeded in getting us to use generic terms like "communications" to describe their work.
Along similar lines, the normalisation of "think tanks" to describe industry-funded policy farms, which are also part of the reputation laundering industry.

#TIL about E. Bruce Harrison
"... (April 3, 1932 – January 16, 2021) was a public relations (PR) expert who organized several campaigns for the U.S. industry against environmental legislation from the 1970s to the 1990s. He has been called the father of environmental PR.
...
A sub-genus of mosquito was named Bruceharrisonius in 2003."

Oh come on - The Onion is meant to be satire.
"Elon throws tantrum, fires folks" is expected behaviour, not satire.
Is this categorising of Musk' s expected behaviour as being somehow "different and remarkable" part of some ongoing #ReputationLaundering campaign?
If so then sorry to see #TheOnion has been corrupted just like #TheGuardian and the #TheAtlantic.

Want to bet on the "Destruction is how Elon progresses" news releases being aready completed by his #SupplicantPress / #ReputationLaundering agents?

Don't know about censorship.But #TheGuardian did publish a story about Musk and the non-supply of satellite navigation data to Ukraine's military that took claims by Musk and his associates at face value and presented as fact an interpretation of those claims which was highly favourable to Musk.
At a time when #Musk could well have benefited from some #ReputationLaundering
-
@chargrille
When multiple articles very quickly appeared proclaiming that the explosive destruction of Musk's most-bigly Rocket was actually a benefit to Musk's rocket program I wondered just how much of a PR machine could be purchased by a man with hundreds of billions of dollars.Conclusion: A mega-bigly PR and #ReputationLaundering campaign could be bought.
Subsequent articles about Musk-Fear-Ukraine in The Atlantic, The Guardian and Snopes -> no change.
Looks like the bio won't either.
