Just dropped off a couple of weeks of garbage plus a bag of extra garbage caused by house repair at the Republic Services dropoff point.
They're very quick, very polite.
They don't even seem to be bothering to check whether you're a customer - I didn't give them any information, nor did they ask for any. They really want you in and out of there. The queue was nonexistent.
Just as I got there, I saw a large pickup truck leaving with a whole _bunch_ of empty trashcans.
Interesting.

Workers are on strike against Republic Services - the waste disposal company - and there's no trash pickup in a whole bunch of areas.
That strike includes North King County and south Snohomish County, which is to say, hi.
Republic Services reps are doing a trash / recycling / etc dropoff location not far from me.
Does anyone know if the strikers have issued a statement opposing the use of those dropoffs? Do they have a position?
(It would be much easier and cheaper than trying to haul stuff to the closest transfer station, so I do actually care.)

I had to say goodbye to Philip this morning. He was finally picked up by #RepublicServices, only 11 days after originally planned.

Shocker, #RepublicServices’ dumpster did not get picked up today. I even waited until after 5pm to post this to be as fair as possible, since there had been the possibility of them picking it up late in the day, even though they said it would be picked up this morning.

I’ve mentioned before how every Friday #RepublicServices’ trucks leave a trail of trash water down the street. This morning, the wet pavement let us really see the oily residue they leave behind every week.
(And no, the dumpster hasn’t been picked up yet.)

Finally called #RepublicServices about their abandoned dumpster. They said someone came to pick it up, but that there were “large objects sticking out, preventing them from putting a tarp over it.” Not sure when they were going to tell me about this problem. They say it’ll be picked up tomorrow.

However, #RepublicServices did send me a survey asking about their service. Obviously I would not recommend them to anyone else. I'll be interested to see if they follow up with me about this.

Dumpster Watch 2023 - Day 3!
#RepublicServices still has not picked up the dumpster. It was scheduled to be picked up four days ago. The dumpster really adds to the character of the neighborhood & I’m sure the home value of the house for sale down the street.

#RepublicServices still hasn’t picked up the dumpster that was scheduled for Monday. They were two days late dropping it off, so maybe they’re just late picking it up too. I don’t know, they seem to have an aversion to talking with their customers.

Unsurprisingly, #RepublicServices did not pick up the dumpster yesterday when they said they would. Maybe they didn’t realize they scheduled a pickup for MLK Jr. Day & it’ll be picked up today. It’s too bad they don’t pick up on weekends, this has already been full for a few days. It’s great having trash sit at the curb for an extended period of time. Really lends an air of sophistication to our #Anaheim neighborhoods.

Over on Twitter, I had a thread detailing all of the way #RepublicServices failed at providing basic city services for #Anaheim. Since I’m limiting my engagement on the bird site, I’m going to revive the thread here.
Last week, I had ordered a dumpster to be delivered today. When I got home tonight, there was no dumpster to be seen. I’d really like to empty my garage of all the construction waste that’s there right now.
