Back in and exploring a with much blepping of everything! #ReptilesOfMastodon. Lizards can be neophobic so it makes me happy that Dewi is so curious and confident in re-exploring.

New layout. Substrate is partly clay so holds a shape after being wetted. Used for supporting and positioning logs and some level changes. No ochre substrate available but the red is similar enough composition. One extra slate to try to manage claw length with less trimming. Plants in. Waiting for humidity to settle back down after the clay work before dragon goes back in. #ReptilesOfMastodon

Dragon installed in his Pembrokeshire holiday chalet I.e his baby tank at my mums so I can spring (summer) clean. Off we go… 40kilos of substrate removed from his main home. I think I’ll leave his sandcastle and work around it.

F10 and aquarium sealant everywhere except hopefully my lungs. “Use biocides safely and sustainably” says the label this year.

I do obsess over his shedding somewhat because it's a such good indicator of overall health. This one was textbook. Cleanly off the toes and tail tip, good sized patches lifted easily, he needed no help and he ate well afterwards after being off his food for a day or two before (usual).

It’s so hot I felt confident the park would be empty enough to see if the dragon would enjoy a visit. - he did! Was tolerant but not overjoyed about the walk up in the carrier, but LOVED exploring in the grass! It's time for #MarshMadness!

This picture was taken not in a marsh, but in the Roman ruins at Al-Bass in Sour (Tyre), Lebanon. The frog is, however, a marsh frog (Rana ridibunda), so I think it counts.

At the risk of injecting a political note into a celebration of all things marshy, Al-Bass is adjacent to a Palestinian refugee camp that has been repeatedly bombed or shelled by Israeli forces, most recently in 2024.

#Herpetology friends, can someone suggest a good warming lamp for a cornsnake and for some leopard geckos? I've become a long-term caretaker of one snake and three geckos and my house is too cold for them and the owner didn't give me any lamps. If possible I need lamps under 100$ so I can fundraise for them. I'm worried about them.
