  1. From the moment I preordered this #reprint of #tmnt4 I never thought I would ever get an actual #firstprint of #teenagemutantninjaturtles issue 4. On the plus side, the #reprint is autographed by Michael Dooney, so that’s awesome.

  4. Last chance for the Pride Bundle!

It’s the final hours of the Indie Spotlight Pride Bundle. Get 18 books for $27! (Including my short story “The Relative Positions of Dead Things in the Dark.”)

Do I feel a little silly promoting an ebook sale in the midst of (gestures widely) all this? Yes, yes I do. Sadly, I am not in a position to personally do much about the Supreme Court, kidnapping squads, assassins or international bombing campaigns. So I will silently scream (while doing what little I can) and also talk about books. Because on the one hand, stories are important and capable of changing hearts and minds. On the other, sometimes you just need to dissociate and reading is a comparatively healthy way of doing that.

  5. Pride Bundle

There’s an Itch.io book bundle in honor of Pride Month. Well, there’s more than one such bundle, but the one I’m in is the Indie Spotlight Pride Bundle. It runs for the entire month of June and gets you 18 books for $27.

My contribution is “The Relative Positions of Dead Things in the Dark” (originally published in ParSec Issue 4). One character is trans (only briefly mentioned on the page, because I would very much like to live in a world where “trans” is an adjective, not a target).

The only other bundled book I’ve read is Norton Award finalist Vanessa Ricci-Thode’s The Dragon Next Door (I got it early via the Kickstarter). I can confirm that there is a dragon who lives next door. The girl also lives next door. I’m a fan of the book’s farms, curated jungle rather than cleared-and-cultivated cropland. (Dragons and romance are fun, too, but sometimes it’s just nice to see little worldbuilding grace notes.)

  10. My skilled and talented friend @JenJen has just launched her latest Kickstarter - to reprint all her previous comics from the last decade! If you know her work and have gaps in your collection, here is a chance to fill them! If you don't know Jen, why not? Have you checked her out? How about now? 😏 kickstarter.com/projects/jenni

  11. CW: dieting, disordered eating, anti-fat bias

"The Pill" by Meg Elison (#escapepod #reprint) is an unflinching imagining of the nadir of diet culture. Do heed the content notes, but this is the type of story I appreciate most: one that isn't afraid to take a theme to its most extreme conclusion. Chilling, real, and fierce.
