Update. #arXiv just took a further step to limit the volume of #AI slop. arXiv calls them "low-value" submissions.

"As of October 1st, 2026, arXiv is instituting an updated rate limiting policy across all submitters and categories as a stopgap while we determine what may be the new best practice for authors employing more and more advanced AI tools, and to give us time to improve our moderation tools and procedures accordingly…arXiv now limits submitters to up to two submissions per calendar month, with a limit of three total active submissions at any given time."

Switchciorng to the brave browser on LinuxMint

So following the article about the issues around Mozilla Firefox, I decided to try and have a look at it,

As a more experienced user, I tried to find this in the Mint repositories, a quick way to do this for me is to type apt search brave.

p shiki-brave-theme - blue variation of the Shiki-Colors theme

So from that, brave is not in the Mint repos.

Switching to duckduckgo in firefox, searching for brave browser it comes up as second in the list (fire fox being first),

so on the brave website, I eventually spot a small get brave button in the corner, leading to

https://brave.com/linux/

So my options to install seem to mostly involve the command line.

This is probably fine for most users who are comfortable with the command line, for users used to window or any modern OS they may be put off.

The advantage with apt (and rpm) etc is that once a package is installed via software managers that package will also update when new versions are added to the repository, or importantly any security patches can also be pulled in as soon as available.

So why isn't brave part of repository in #LinuxMint
