Every time I see praise for #KDrama #Reply1988 I'm convinced it's my ultimate contrarian badge. I've seen 97 twice (once while airing) and loved it, 94 once and really loved the STP, but the mere thought of watching 88 leaves me cold. The stupidly overlong movie length episodes and having witnessed the "who's the Oppa " flamewars while it airedrepelled me. Not once in the decade since have I had the slightest urge to check 88 out. TVN's hatred of editors remains a mystery to me to this day.

I have soaked up enough #kdrama now that I can spot easter eggs. Just caught a shockingly long #Goblin paean in ep1 #TrueBeauty (which I know has massive #ExtraordinaryYou crossovers in later eps)...but just now I caught a quick musical #Reply1988 tribute in Ep3 #HospitalPlaylist. Proud of myself!

I felt a tad sorry Jung Hwan, but I felt he didn't make a move because he knew deep down Deok-sun was meant to be with Taek.

Reply 1988 brought the 80s back to me - a time when I was also in high school, college & getting married - so the nostalgia hit hard. As my mom needs quite a bit of help these days, these lines hit me so hard:

(2015 - Viki, 20 avg 1:35 eps (varies))A slice-of-life story about 5 families on the same street where the kids have spent their youth together. We arrive when they are finishing high school We live through the challenges of discovering their paths in life, developing relationships, maintaining their friendships, parents aging, & more. It was interesting to learn about baduk players & some laws & ideas about which families could marry.
It was a WOW! 1 of those where these characters will live with me forever. So touching, I teared up at almost every episode, but I also laughed. Phenomenal acting, beautiful writing & what seems to be very authentic set design creates an unforgettable show. [See comment]
The time-shifts gave us enough mystery to make slice-of-life compelling - it was so well done. & the OST is also great.

I thought you'd watched #Reply1988. I thought it had similar vibes to #MisaengIncompleteLife as well as #TwentyFiveTwentyOne Slice of Life family/neighbourhood drama that stretches over quite a few years. The couple you mention are quite sweet. I'd say they're the third couple. I was very invested in Noona's love life as well.

It made sense for Bora, being a lot like her father, to fall for someone like her mother. Sun-Woo is a planner who pushes through misfortunes, prone to sacrifice, etc.
Therefore I would have expected Deok-sun to fall for someone a lot like her father. A grumpy man hiding his true emotions.
Taek is someone to take care of, while Jung-hwan is someone who does amazing things for the ones he loves when they least expect it. -

I finished #Reply1988 and #ShopaholicLouis, both of which I loved. Reply had 20 episodes, which I rarely appreciate, even though it was awesome. Louis was just plain fun!
#CurrentlyAiring: #QueenOfTears, which is epic. I'm happy to rewatch episodes. A great mixture of vibes with lots of layers unfolding.
Watchparties: #TheTaleOfNokdu, a fast-moving gender-bending sageuk with a couple of great leads.
#CaptivatingTheKing: only one episode so far.
Next up: #WeddingImpossible? -

There's a lot going on in that #kdrama though it's not fast paced. Every detail, every conversation has a meaning and a context. I love how it's accurate in depicting that particular period. From the Nike Air Jordan to the student protests!I'm happy that you are enjoying it!
