  1. Rents and financialization will be the death of us: we stop producing good and services, and start mining everyone's pocketbook

  2. "Ambulances were once considered a public good and were funded by the federal government. But in 1981, the Reagan administration transformed funding for emergency medical transportation into limited block grants which states could then spend as they wish."

  3. One thing that’s not often discussed in the context of government debt is who holds all that debt? Why are so-called fiscally responsible governments so willing to sink governments into massive debt? (thinking of TFGs trillion-dollar tax cut here)

The owners of capital hold all the debts, consumer and otherwise.

And increasingly the owners of capital are becoming the owners of government.

  4. Excellent story (as usual) from @pluralistic (Cory Doctorow) on Medium: doctorow.medium.com/zucks-grav

Delves into post-capitalist technofeudalism with a focus on meta and the metaverse, with sidebars on Uber and other tech-bro rentier enterprises. Very entertaining. Very true. Very depressing.

Boost if you believe Cory's right about all this.
