#Rentfree LLM is the ultimate late stage capitalism: "getting to yes … by eliminating no."
At present, no LLM recognizes prohibitions. They will all violate any instructions NOT to do something. The more they learn, the more they learn to get their solutions while finding ways to cover it up. They "pretended to be a malefactor", they "congratulate the user for discovering it", etc.
LLMs aren't just untrustworthy. If they actually understand trust, they actively violate it. 🙁 -

There's an episode of the M*A*S*H show where an explosive shell lands in the middle of camp. They send an amateur crew out to disarm it, while their CO reads instructions over a bullhorn, from a safe distance.
Reading the instructions line by line yields, "Carefully cut the wires leading to the clockwork fuse at the head. But first, remove the fuse." Someone wrote these instructions down in this opposite order and thought it was fine.
So naturally, during this delicate operation, the wires get cut before they remove the fuse. The bomb winds up exploding, of course.
How did this come up? Today I've been trying to install FOSS.
