Since I'm absolute beginner on DJing, I'm still on #Rekordbox specially because most tutorials teach it.
As soon as I learn more and start getting confidence I'll give #Mixxx a bigger change.

Fortunatelly, Rekordbox is not that much enshittified (yet) as is #Serato (a shitty software), but it is still closed in its ecosystem: #Pioneer_DJ, though curiously enough, the controller I have - DDJ-FLX4 - works also with serato, so #Pioneer isn't exactly pushing Rekordbox down the throat, as #Numark is doing with Serato.

I just started learning to #DJ.
I've bought this course on Udemy and I've been watching some YouTube videos on the topic: https://www.udemy.com/course/10steps2dj/?couponCode=MT260727G1

The instructor (and most beginner's YouTube videos) uses #Rekordbox for the majority of the practices.
For the controller, I've bought a Numark Mixtrack Pro FX, which "comes" with Serato DJ Lite, but right from the beginning I felt how #enshitified it was! The Lite is so limited that it makes me remind the term #Crackware, which was used to addict people on the software for them you buy it.

The Numark controller is good, and I could like it and keep it, except from the fact it's very tight to Serato, which was my decision to return it and get a Pioneer DJ FLX4, which brands both Rekordbox and Serato, so it's a more "whitelabel" product.

Anyway, all that to say that @mixxx is saving my beginner's learning experience (and also saved Numark from a bad review).

If you're on the same journey as I, I deeply recommend to get a Pioneer DJ controller to run away from Serato, it doesn't worth it (beginner's opinion).
Or if you go with Numark, get @mixxx, is astonishing better than Serato.

Des idées pour gérer sa bibliothèque Rekordbox (Pioneer DJ) depuis Linux ?

Je viens de passer sur Fedora et j'ai perdu cet usage.
Car il n'y a pas de version Linux de ce logiciel.

Je peux toujours créer une clé USB avec les pistes, mais pas au format Rekordbox, donc je perds tous les CUE et autre.

Il y a bien ce projet github, mais je sais pas trop quoi en faire pour le moment (à part soutenir)

Hello, world. I'm Yrys. Rapidly approaching my 30s, musician, nerd, gardener and about a million other things, I guess.

Reformed IT Support Engineer, turned Events worker with a massive interest in leveraging tech to help build immersive experiences, as well as the nitty gritty that helps make them work.

Learning #touchdesigner and #blender for the pretty colours and flashing lights, spinning tunes with #rekordbox and building my own pirate radio station - all in the name of #opensource

Turns out that despite my unsucessful previous attempts, with quite some fiddling, you can in fact get #rekordbox running on #linux through #wine. It's janky af, has high audio latency and doesn't detect the hardware controllers, but for quick library management it should be usable.

Though for some reason RB7 is locked to 30FPS, while RB6 seems to run at the monitor's native refresh rate.

Recommended #rekordbox redundancy concept:

- Have one Thumbdrive with your Exports for that Gig.
- Have a copy of it if the first one fails.
- Have another copy of it if one fails and the ProLink network doesn't work and you have to feed both CDJ with separate Date.
- Have your Notebook with the Masterlibrary with you which you can use in an emergency in Export Mode. (eg All thumbdrives got missing)

To sum it up: Have three copies of your library with you.

Hey fediverse! anyone know a lot about #rekordbox #dj software?

I’ve got a couple of tracks that start at one bpm (~150) and then speed up (to ~170). I’ve got other tracks where the breakdown is a bar longer than expected

In both of these cases the grid can be in sync at the beginning or end of the track, but not both.

When playing vinyl this wasn’t a problem as I can mix by ear, but my god it’s distracting having the grid be that far off!

Is it possible to have the grid resync mid track?

Sigh, if you are used to Engine DJ all these years, the RekordBox software is really a step backwards :-/

7.0.4 finally has a decent stem quality and actually an implementation you can be creative with, compareable with Serato. Finally a good reason to have massive computing capacities in the DJ booth :)
